Electroencephalogram

Electroencephalogram (EEG) is a diagnostic method that is applied at Veresies Clinic and records the electrical activity of the brain through specific electrodes placed in specific positions in the head. The electroencephalogram is mainly performed to diagnose epilepsy and seizures. It can also be used in episodes of disorientation, dizziness, headaches, sleep disorders, loss or disturbance of the level of consciousness as well as damage to the brain after stroke, etc.

The procedure for performing the electroencephalogram is simple and painless. The patient, after placing the electrodes, remains seated with the eyes closed. During the recording, the patient will be asked to take deep and quick breaths as well as to focus on a flashing light that rhythmically. During the procedure the electrodes are connected via wires to a computer where the electrical activity of the brain is recorded.

All Programs of “Veresies” Clinic are approved and supervised by the Cyprus National Addictions Authority (CNAA).
