Post traumatic stress disorder is the anxiety disorder that may occur with the person's exposure to a traumatic event that the individual experienced, was a witness, or was faced with. This may involve informing the person of an unexpected or violent death, bodily injury, death threat, or injury to a member of his / her family or other close persons. Strenuous and persistent anxiety reactions, lasting at least one month after the traumatic event, evolve into post traumatic stress disorder.
The main symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder are:
- Recurring memories of the event and/or recurrent dreams that cause intense engagement and disruption to the individual,
- A feeling resuscitation of experience, hallucinations and hallucinations,
- The individual, when exposed to internal and external stimuli that recall the traumatic event, experiences intense psychological discomfort and has physical anxiety reactions,
- The individual. avoids stimuli associated with the trauma,
- The individual. is incapable of remembering an important aspect of the traumatic event,
- A great reduction in interest,
- The person possesses a feeling of removal / distraction from others,
- The person is incapable of feeling different feelings,
- The person has the feeling that his future is short,
- The person has difficulty falling asleep or sleeping,
- The person is irritable or has anger explosions and an increased surprise reaction is observed,
The person has difficulty concentrating.
The frequency of the disorder is about 9% in the general population and occurs in double the proportion of women compared to men. However, the disorder does not occur in all people who are exposed to traumatic events. The person's reaction to a traumatic event and his ability to overcome and return to the previous situation is usually a function of many factors.
