Treatment of Addiction in Adolescence

The teenager in order to cope with the intra-psychological and interpersonal difficulties of maturing and social adaptation towards adulthood, often resort to increased use / abuse of alcohol or other substances (substance dependence) or develop dependency on behaviors such as gambling, electronic games, internet and etc.

When a teenager goes through the stage of use to substance dependence, it may present some points that may turn our attention to this problem.

If the adolescent presents one or more of the following, he or she may be at the stage of addiction and need help.

  • Forced desire to use the substance

  • Continuous refusal of a problem and therefore refusal to initiate a healing effort.
  • Problems with the law, either through behavior or possession of illegal substances.

Treatment is initiated by the patient himself. Acceptance of the problem is the most important step in starting the healing effort with the involvement of the family and friendly environment.
