When the spectrum of weakness prevails, the temper of youth is provoked.
Regardless of the degrees, they have obtained and the opportunities they had, the inability to achieve what they desire make them feel that their power is being faded and that society considers them unnecessary.
On the one hand, this explanation may be supported by the surprises of the socio-economic system that occur in a fundamentally unfair way in this modern society. This has an impact on the coverage of basic human needs and the people who feel this more intense are the vulnerable people including the youth who have not yet found an occupation and are being financially supported by their primary caregivers.
The will to gain power may lead young people to fight for their rights in certain ways like joining a group. These small groups will create emotions of belongingness and the feeling of power will be enhanced.
This can explain the tendency of adolescents and young adults to be united like a pack or packs and search for opportunities to express their demands attacking vulnerable people or government personnel who are there to enforce social rules. These opportunities may arise from current topics like coronavirus restrictions, alleged injustices regarding their football team or alleged opposition to authority.
The people who are not involved in these reactions are seen by the pack, faceless and they are being perceived as a body that represents authority. Attacks can be perpetrated by hitting, throwing objects, Molotov etc. During the violence, it is difficult for them to perceive that these people are similar to them; people who have families, children, and they wish to return home safe and sound. Similar to the people who wish to complete their shift and meet their loved ones.
After the violence has ended and they have to face justice, then there is a chance for their mind to clear and realize the harm they have caused to another human being regardless of their service or role.
Violent attacks are being expressed through bullying, vandalism, disasters...
The whole point is that Power is the ability to make changes but also to accept changes. However, usually the majority of a group’s members do not have this power for various reasons. Additionally, usually someone else is to blame for what has happened and they are not willing to take responsibility for their actions.
Certainly, social inequality and the lack of equal opportunities in regards to employability gives the impression that the youth is correct regarding imbalances of power; but the way they are trying to gain power and present their age group will not lead to a solution to one's personal problems, nor it will bring changes.
It just offers a sense of power to some people until unwanted consequences follow and then, everyone will try to save oneself or even tell on other group members by having less concern regarding the group.
Therefore, the whole participation has an opportunistic character and there is not any specific immediate or long-term benefit. It just alerts for the existing of unresolved problems but it does not help at all in providing solutions to them, and it has several other disadvantages.
Firstly, this way of expression does not gain the support of the public. Both official announcements and the descriptions given by the social media, characterize the so-called fighters of rights, as "brainless". Their actions are being judged because their request has not been clarified thus, they might be perceived as irresponsible even when they may have a point.
Not to mention the negative emotions against them that are thriving by the social compassion arising towards innocent citizens whose property like cars and shops have been damaged.
In this way, they cannot be trusted by anyone including the political forces who do not wish to be affiliated with them due to the anarchy that these groups inspire.
In most such events, there is always the element of provocation. This means that individuals and groups that disagree with a certain group can cause episodes in an attempt to ruin the whole effort of another group.
After such concerning episodes, the state has to work on identifying and persecuting involved members but also an effort has to be applied in order to satisfy the youth’s needs and contemplate methods that will reassure a state’s interest for fairness and equality.
Not only in this case, but also in other cases where social problems exist, prevention methods give a better outcome than repression.
